Bon dia Flores!!!
It has been over a week since my last update here before our Iridium Go left us (rest in peace, but also… can’t wait to have you back?!). We’ve missed you all those days!!!

While the world was wondering where we were (sorry mom), we had a wonderful, easy and fast crossing. Well, that is, minus our loss of sat coms, but that is a story for another time and we’ll have plenty of opportunities to tell you all about it when we arrive 🙂

We are currently motorsailing North of Corvo, a tiny little island situated North of Ihla das Flores which is the island of the Azores archipelago situated farthest to the West, about 100 nautical miles away from Horta.

This is how I am able to send this update, as we are getting a bit of 4g signal (hello again civilization!)
We now only have about 150 nautical miles to go before we reach Horta, and everyone onboard is looking forward to some drinks and Portuguese food.

In the last few days, we have been sailing North up to 41° of latitude in order to get a better angle to the Easterly winds forecast to land on Horta tomorrow, as a result of the Azores high moving North.

We thought we’d get a straight shot South East to our destination, but our last stretch is more challenging than we thought, we very inconsistent and shifty winds straight in our nose, swells on our stern but wind waves on our bow, lumpy seas and an overall very bumpy ride.

As a result, we have struggled this morning to keep the boat speed above 5 knots, even with the engine on. But this will all be over in 24 hours, when we get to celebrate landfall!!!

Although I haven’t been able to publish anything, I have written blog posts for every day that we have spent across the Atlantic, and I will share them with you as soon as we arrive, for whoever might be interested 🙂

Last stretch!!!
